Varicocele

It is enlargement of the veins within the skin supporting the testicles (scrotum). Similar to a varicose vein in the leg.

This disease can cause the testicles to fail to develop normally or to shrink. Up to 30% of patients with varicocele suffer from infertility.

Symptoms:

They rarely cause pain, but the pain varies from sharp to mild discomfort.
Pain may increase when you are standing or exerting yourself, particularly for long periods of time.
Pain gets worse as the day goes on.

The visual appearance has been described as resembling a "bag of worms".

If you have pain or swelling in your scrotum, discover a lump, notice that your testicles are different sizes, or have problems conceiving. Make an appointment with us as some of these problems need to be treated immediately.
