Testicular Cancer

It is the most common solid tumour in young adults (15-35 years of age).

  • It commonly develops in young people, but can occur in older people.
  • Approximately 8,430 new cases of testicular cancer are diagnosed each year in the United Stated. 1 in 270 men will develop testicular cancer.

  • It means that on average, a man hears: "you have testicular cancer"... every hour, of every day, of every year.
  • About 1 in 25 men who have had testicular cancer will develop testicular cancer in the other testicle at some point in their lives.
  • The exact cause of testicular cancer is not known, but there are some known factors that increase the risk of testicular cancer.
  • Being born with an undescended testicle (cryptorchidism).
  • Family history (father or brothers with testicular cancer).
  • History of testicular cancer.

Monthly testicular self-examinations are recommended to identify testicular cancer at its earliest stage.
